How do I make a hoop?

Where can I buy a hoop?

You can purchase a hoop from your local farmers market, from sellers on etsy or you can contact me for a custom hoop. If you are purchasing a hoop from the internet, please know that they are not all created equal. Watch out for negative reviews and complaints.

Where can I purchase tubing?

You can purchase tubing from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware and many other mom & pop hardware stores. Home Depot and Lowes have the best prices. When looking for connectors, make sure you buy the “lasco” brand if you can. They work much better than the other connectors.

If you don’t have any of those stores where you live I highly recommend Discount Hooping Supply.*** They have the best prices online. They are the only company I trust with my orders. They also happen to host some really cool giveaways on their Facebook page.

What kind of tubing should I purchase?

The most common tubing used for beginners is ¾” 160psi polyethylene tubing. If you feel like you are a more advanced hooper I recommend ¾” 100psi polyethylene tubing or ½” 125psi polyethylene tubing. Once you feel confident with polyethylene tubing you might want to consider polypropylene tubing. You can purchase all these tubing options at the previously mentioned hardware stores or at Discount Hooping Supply.***

Where can I buy tape?

I used to purchase my gaffers tape at a local theater supply store in my hometown, but I found Discount Hooping Supply to be cheaper despite shipping costs. They run frequent sales, so keep an eye on their bargain bins.

What kind of tape should I use?

If you are a beginner and anticipate dropping your hoop on pavement a ton I suggest only taping your hoop with gaffers/grip tape and maybe some vinyl tape to save money. Pavement rips up tape regardless of what type you use. If you want to go for the pretty stuff you can buy all sorts of deco tape here. I personally love the Hoop-i-os tape and have been eyeballing it for weeks.

*** If you decide to order with Discount Hooping Supply, be sure to use the code “BREEDLOVE” (minus quotes) at checkout. It will enter you to win a hoop-it-yourself kit. The more orders you place using the code, the more entries into the drawing.

I do get a small kickback (5%) of what you order. I am in no way affiliated with Discount Hooping Supply. I just happen to be a hooper who loves their products.
